As you travel to Rome, it is spring ten years after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. A group of Christians and interested citizens have gathered to hear one of the eyewitnesses, John Mark. You make your way to the prearranged place, an old building. You have heard that Mark has recently arrived in Rome. You hope the rumor is true. It is a dangerous time and persecutions of Christians are whispered daily. Today you risk your life to hear this man tell his story. You heard a rumor that he has brought along his scroll called “The Gospel According to Mark.” Is Mark really in town? Is this just a trap? It’s both exciting and terrifying. In spite of the danger, you have come. This could be the best day or the worst day of your life. You pray that it is the best day.
